This year, the traditional GA-Partner Tennis Tournament was held for the 12th time.
Differently from traditions, it was not held on the fourth Saturday of May, but on the first one of June, in order not to clash with Pentecost. The 12th GA-Partner Tennis Tournament was also held at another location. Since the tournament has outgrown the Lido Teniszcentrum at Római-part over the last 10 years, the courts of the Grand Slam Park in the 11th district were selected as the new venue. The matches were played in the two hectare park’s six courts in a beautiful setting. This year, 6 individual female, 23 individual male and 20 double players competed in the tournament. Family members and interested general public were also present in large numbers; based on the preliminary registration, the organisers expected more than 150 adult and 40 child visitors. Exhausted players were welcomed with draft beer, cold refreshers and a fully laden buffet table through the day. Visiting family members and spectators were not left to be bored either. Squash courts were available at the new venue as well, along with a wellness complex. Instead of the favourite accompaniment to events organised at the Római-part, a motorboat ride in the Danube a horse carriage could be ridden, daily angling passes pass were available for the neighbouring fishpond and a hot air balloon could also be tried. The tennis tournament was a special scene from the gondola of the hot air balloon. The most popular accompanying programme was however no doubt the summer bobsleigh. The organisers did not forget about children either: the young and the very young were also welcomed at playgrounds, sports events, face painting and artisan playhouses, who had the chance to try a lot more entertaining games testing their skills at a far larger than usual playground. Unfortunately, the weather was not perfect. The weather was cold and cloudy for the season, but fortunately neither this nor the occasional drizzle was able to scare away the enduring competitors and the loyal visitors. The winners were announced at the venue of the event. Due to the weather’s uncertainty, the organisers have erected a tent for the dinner to host more than 120 dinner guests. The gala dinner followed the announcement of results, with the accompanying melodies of the guitar duo well known from pervious tournaments. The successful event was crowned by a party lasting well into the night, during which the orange covers did good service, although the most courageous of the group have warmed up for the whirling rhythms on the open air dance floor installed for the occasion.
